 Statistics of 6174 outpatients in Osaka University, Department of Otolaryngology, were presented according to sex difference, age decade, chief complaints, involving location and ICD.

 There is no remarkable difference in sex between 3258 males and 2916 females. Comparing to the distribution of 1% population sensus in the same year, the 6th decade reveals the highest rate of consulting to the medical service, and the 4th decade is the highest groups among the all out-patients. The location of the involved organs shows a diminishing curve in order of "Oto " " Rhino" "Pharynx " " Larynx" and "Trachea".

 In their chief complaints, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo are common in the otological complaints, and nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, sneezing, and epistaxis in the nasal, and pharyn-geal pain, tonsillar problems in the pharyngeal, and foreignbody sensation, sore throat in the laryn-geal complaints. Those most frequent complaints in each location occupies 2/3 of the all patient's statements in first visit.

 According to ICD the highest incidence of the diseases is "8. Disease of Respiratory System" and then "6. Disease of the Nervous System and Sense Organs " " 16. Symptoms, Senility and Ill-Defined Conditions " " 2. Neoplasms" in the decreasing order.
