  • Look Inside

A survey on the total number of otitis media that had occurred in the City of Saga during one year of 1972, among infants and children whose ages ranging from 0 to 12 inclusive, was attempted by acquiring reports from all 4 sourses of treatment centers, the City's ENT practitioners.

There were 913 patients with 1,167 ears involved with otitis media. The morbidity was low among those of 0 age but began to be increased as the infants attain the age 1 and reaching the peak at the ages 3 to 5. This number again began to be decreased at about the age 6. The highest number of morbidity was found among the 3 year olds and the highest number of secretory type was found among the 5 year olds.

The duration of treatment requirement was the longest among the 0 ages, along with the largest number of recurrences but the latter had a tendency to be decreased as the infants grew older.
