I．緒言

　耳鼻科を訪れる小児の多くにみられる疾患の一つに，急性中耳炎がある。その急性中耳炎は最近の抗生物質などの化学療法剤の著しい発達により，以前に比べ治癒しやすい疾患であると一般的に考えられるようになってきた。しかし中には，種々の治療に抗して治癒までの期間が遷延したり，または反復再発したり，滲出性中耳炎などへの移行と種々の病像を示す事があり，日常の臨床において時に悩まされる事が多い疾患であるという事もまた事実である。

　そこで，最近の2年間に当科外来を訪れた10歳以下の小児の急性中耳炎患者を対象として統計的観察を行い，前述の点について検討し，若干の文献的考察を加えたので報告する。

　Three hundred and sixty three cases of acute otitis media in infants and children were treated in our outpatients department in last 2 years. The highest incidence was at the age of 4, and then 2 to under 1 year of age. The complete clinical course was observed in 278 cases. There was a marked tendency of delay of recovery and the recurrent episodes of the disease at seven-month and under 1 year of age.

　The author assumed that the great factors of delay of recovery and the higher recurrent rate were induced by decrease in immunoglobulin G. The literature was reviewed and the relation of immunoglobulin and acute otitis media was discussed.
