  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Two cases of recurrent tracheal ozena were reported. Both cases were woman, aged 32 and 34 respectively, who commonly complained of the attack of ozena with the onset of cold winter months, when the humidity is low, consecutively for the past 10 years. The laboratory examination showed no evidence of any peculiar inflammation nor that of abnormal values.

The review of literature reveals the incidence of tracheal ozena in this country is heaviest in the winter months. During this period, other upper respiratory tract infections may occur, the tracheal secretions, due to the cold and dry air aided by the inflammatory hindrance of the ciliary action, may move slowly with tendency of forming crusts. The cold arid atmospheric condition appear to be one of the important factors in the etiology of this disease.
