  • Look Inside

The authors made equilibrium tests upon 268 patients, during the recent 4 years, 1967 to 1970, who suffered traumatic head injury. The results are as follow:

 1. The treatment of disturbances of equilibrium appears to be effective during the period of the initial stage of the disease but, it becomes less so as the case turn chronic.

 2. The prognosis of the case cannot be made by a singular initial examination alone.

 3. The patients with concomittant brainstem injury are worry to become chronically affected and their prognosis is exceedingly poor indeed.

 4. The expectation of the patient's return to his normal social activities following the onset of loss of equilibrium caused by head injury depends largely upon the patient's psychological attitude.
