  • Look Inside

It has been 8 years since a special class for hard of hearing children has been established, in 1960, at the Uchisange Primary School in Okayama Prefecture. The main purpose for which this class was established was to afford means by which the handicapped children may be given opportunities of learning equal to those who are physically normal, enabling the former to become a useful member of the society.Towards the result of teaching and psychological encouragements given to these children much have been contributed to date. Yet, there are a number problems still to be met for further improvement of the procedure. And, these may be listed in the following order: 1) A further observation of hard of hearing children, 2) Selection of teachers, 3) Selection of schools in which such a class may be established, and, 4) The planning and equipment of such a classroom.
