　はじめに

　手術あるいは薬物投与による聴力の改善はその前後のaudiogramによつて閾値変動を比較することによつているが，audiogram上では明らかな閾値の下降があるにもかかわらず，患者は聴力の回復を訴えない場合がある。このような現象はいかなる理由によるものであろうか。著者らはこの点について検討してみることとした。すなわち，種々の穿孔鼓膜に対して羊膜を使用し，穿孔閉鎖前後の聴力より，自覚的に「きこえが良くなる」ためにはいか程の闘値下降が必要なのか，またこの両者の関係に影響する要因の存在について考察を試みた。

　To what extent the repair of the aperture of the perforated tympanic membrane might influence towards improvement of hearing was investigated in 40 cases.

　Improvement of hearing through this procedure was more readily seen in patients who suffered low-tone disturbance (below 1000cps), whose perforations were either, small or medium in size and who were affected with bilateral perforations, than as not.
