補聴器使用が残存聴力に及ぼす影響

　I．まえがき

　不可逆恒久的な難聴者にとつて補聴器装用は唯一の聴力改善の手段であるが，この場合補聴器によつて過大に増幅された会話音或いは雑音が，却つて残存せる聴覚を損傷する原因となるのではないかと云う懸念は，耳科学的立場から諸家によつて古くから指摘されて来たが，補聴器使用者の聴力が如何に変化するかを長期間に亘つて観察する事は容易でないし，もしそれが可能だとしてもこの中から補聴器の影響を確認する事は更に困難な事である。このような観察方法や判定の困難な点から本問題を追究しようとしたものは少いようである。

　僅かにNaunton，Davis恩地氏等が補聴器使用は残存せる聴覚を回復せしめる事もないが，同時に障害する事もないと述べているに過ぎない。

　Whether or not use of hearing aid in individuals of hard of hearing has deleterious effect on the residual hearing of that person is investigated. One hundred cases of hearing aid users are tasted by employment of audiograms along with the patient's own feeling of improvement or retardation of hearing by such usage for the state of hearing.

　1. Thirty cight percent of the number reported subjective retardation of hearing.

　2. No significant difference was noted in the difference of threshold hearing taken before and after the use of the apparatus among these users who reported their hearing to be"worsened "," same"or "bettered".

　5. Only 1 case among the 100 cases examined showed a suspected evidence of progressive loss of hearing.
