欧米における言語障害治療の現況

SPEECH THERAPY IN AMERICA AND SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

　最近約10年間に3回にわたつて，米国および欧州の一部の国々における言語障害治療の現況を視察し，くりかえしつぎの5つのことが確認された。

　1）各国とも言語障害の頻度が高く，総人口の2〜5％を占めていること。いろいろの障害型の頻度も，地域差や人種にあまり関係なく，ほぼ共通しているものらしいこと。

Present status of speech rehabilitation pro-gram of four countries, USA, Great Britain, West Germany and Denmark was reported based mainly on the observations made by the author during the period of 1962-1963.

1. USA: Functions and activities of (1) The American Speech and Hearing Associa-tion (2) Public School Speech Correction Services (3) Speech and Hearing Clinics of various type and (4) some historical notes were presented.

2. Great Britain: Speech therapy activi-ties under (1) School Health Service and (2) National Health Scheme.

3. West Germany: Activities of (1) Logo-paedistins under hospital system and (2) Sprachheillehrers under school system.

4. Denmark: Activities of talepaedagogs (speech teachers) in (1) two National Speech Centers (Statens Institut for Talelidende) and their branches (2) public schools and in (3) hospitals.

Some recommendations and warnings were made for the sake of better planning of fu-ture program with major emphasis on pro-fessional training programs.
