Two hundred eighty seven cases of aural furunculosis were observed; in 232 cases the infection was localized and in 55 it was dif-fused. The onset of the affection appeared to be the most prevalent in the month of Au-gust and the least in February. Twenty nine per cent of the number of patients belonged to the age-group of 6-10 years old; males ap-peared to be more vulnerable to the attack than the females. The majority of this type of infections were seen to be manifested after swimming while any lesion sustained in the external aural canal may Instigate them. The duration of the infection appeared to be sh-orter in summer than that in the winter mo-nths ; the localized infetcion seemed to be cured in a shorter period of time than the diffused type. In treatment the use of tetracy-cline appeared to be more effective than ei-ther penicillin or sulfa-drugs. For immediate relief of pain local injection of cocain seemed to be strprisingly effcetive.
