TAKIGUCHI AND TSUKAMOTO, during the period of 8 years since 1938, made observations on Quecenstedt Signs for testing thrombosis of ce-rebral venous sinuses, as it was adopted by Kind-ler in 1925, and, found 20 cases among the 48 in whom such tests were made who registered 50 mm or more of pressure difference in the spinal fluid with the two sides.

The presence of sinus thrombosis was confirmed in 12 cases by means of either operation or necro-psy but, 2 cases among there had registered less than 50 mm of difference. One case in particular among the latter 2 return of the spinal fluid press-ure to its normal level, when pressure release was effected on the juguler, was exceedingly slow on the .affected side as compared to that of the nor-mal.

Among cases that showed more than 50 mm diff-erence of pressure there were 10 whereby no lesion was recognizable though. in 2 perisinus abcesses were later located.

For efficacy of this test to withstand diagnostic purposes the authors maintain;

(1) That, application of pressure on jugularveins be firm and equal on the either side of the neck.

(2) That, the time in which, spinal fluid pressure return to that of the normal be recorded with acc-uracy for each side to be thus tested.
