Morphological follow-up studies of AVM of the brain not having definite surgery are infrequent in the literature. Spontaneous complete regession of AVM proved by angiography has been reported on rare occasions, there being only 6 cases prior to the present case (Table 1).

We experienced 31 patients with AVM of the brain not having definite surgery from March, 1959 to December, 1975. Fifteen out of them are undergoing follow-up angiographic study over a period of 16 years in the longest course of and 7.4 years on the average. Complete disappearance of AVM occured in two cases, spontaneously in one and after 60Co irradiation in the other.
