  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Carotid ophthalmic aneurysm is a disturbance of lower incidence. According to the cooperative study by Lacksley et al., the disturbance was detected in 143 (5.4%) of 2,672 cases with cerebral aneurysm. Further, as compared with the other kinds of aneurysm, this kind of aneurysm is so closely related in its anatomical location to the optic nerve, cavernous sinus, carotid artery and anterior clinoid process that it makes the operation difficult in many cases. Indeed, various investigators have so far obtained no good results especially with operative procedures directly reaching the lesion.
