  • Look Inside

It is well known that the tonic neck or laby-rinthine reflexes exhibit patterned movements of the forelimb, e.g. when the head rotate to the left side, the left forelimb is extended while the right forelimb is flexed. These phenomena may be involved in the supraspinal mechanisms. The supraspinal mechanisms are also concerned the stereotyped bilateral forelimb movements in loco-motion.

Several supraspinal mechanisms are known to play a role in locomotion. These mechanisms appear to produce both tonically and phasically descending volleys to the spinal cord.
