  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Distribution, fiber connection and characteristic axonal ramification of serotonin neurons in the central nervous system of various vertebrates from teleost to macacus were investigated by means of a modified peroxidase-antiperoxidase method. Antibodies were raised in rabbits against an antigen prepared by coupling serotonin to bovine thyroglobulin and using formaldehyde as the coupling reagent.

The distribution pattern of somata of serotonin neurons is essentially in agreement with that described by many investigators who used the formaldehyde-induced fluorescence histochemistry.
