Abstract

The cytoskeleton is the term refered to the intracellular fibrous net work present in probably all eukaryotic cells. Three fibrous organelles, namely microtubules, microfilaments and 10 nm intermediate filaments seem responsible for the structure of the cytoskeleton in the majority of such cells. The main fibrillar proteins which constitute the central nervous system are inter-mediate filaments (glial fiber, neurofilament), microfilaments and microtubules.
