The therapy of myoclonus

　Myoclonusとは，筋肉が急激かつ短時間不随意に収縮する現象であって，1筋に限局するものから全身の筋肉に及ぶものまである。また，自発性に出現するもの，一定の肢位を保った時に出現するもの，規則的に出現するもの，あるいは不規則に出現するものなど病態学的にさまざまな様相を呈する。その原因疾患も種々雑多なものを含み，責任病巣についてもいろいろな部位があげられ，いまだ不明の点が多い。したがって，myoclonusの治療に関しても，種類によって異なり，治療可能なもの，不可能なものなどあり一概に論ずることはできない。したがって，本稿においてはまずmyoclonusの分類・病態について述べた後に，最近のmyoclonusの治療について言及する。

Abstract

　Myoclonus is a nonspecific symptom present in a variety of neurologic disorders. An understanding of the general aspects of myoclonus, particularly usefull therapeutic measures and the spectrum of diseases producing it are important in may approach to therapy. The cornerstone of therapy is the establishment of an accurate diagnosis.

　Only when this has been achieved can a specific mode of therapy be selected. Myoclonus has many and varied etiologies. Myers (1975) attempted to devide these into causes which are treatable and those that are only treated symptomatically.
