Synaptic vesicles and secretory granules.— Continuity of neurons and paraneurons

I．はじめに

　組織学の教科書では，神経系と内分泌系とは，たがいに別系統の機能調節機構であり，ニューロン（ここでは神経細胞と同義に扱う）については神経組織で論じられ，内分泌細胞は上皮組織の項で扱われる。内分泌細胞の分泌物にはペプチドホルモン，生体アミン類，ペプチド結合を欠くアミノ酸誘導体，およびステロイドホルモンなどがあるが，それぞれを分泌する別種の細胞は，ホルモン分泌にあずかる点でまとめられ，神経伝達物質を産生するニューロンとは対立する一つの細胞群を形成すると教えている。しかしながら，1960年代前半の生体アミンのための組織化学，および1960年代後半から1970年代前半にかけてのペプチドホルモンのための免疫組織化学の飛躍的進歩の結果，1）ペプチドホルモンと生体アミンは原則として共存する—つまり両者は一つの分泌細胞から同時に生産されること，および

　2）従来，神経系に特有とされた伝達物質や，新たに同定されてくる神経性ペプチドと，内分泌細胞の分泌物が共通である事実が判明してきた^5，8）。

Summary

Continuity of neurons and paraneurons was discussed with particular reference to synaptic vesicles and secretory granules. Synaptic vesicles have been designated as the cluster-forming vesicles of a size 30 to 50 nm in diameter which occurred in the presynaptic terminal of neurons. On the other hand secretory granules of a size about 120 nm in diameter have been regarded to be characteristic to peptide-amine secreting endocrine cells.
