無脊椎動物の学習機構

Neural mechanisms underlying invertebrate learning

　人を含む高等動物では，「学習」の意味する内容は非常に広範で，しかもいわば常識的定義に包括される多様なものとして受け取られる。しかし下等動物，ことに無脊椎動物の学習については，しばしば逆説的にきわめて明白な定義に従うことが要求される。

　無脊椎動物の学習で主体になるのは，刷り込み（imprinting），慣れ（habituation）のような消極的学習（negative learning）であり，ハチなどの発達した昆虫を除いては一般に単純学習（non-associative learning）である。

　Present status of the studies on the neural mechanisms of the invertebrate learning is reviewed with particular emphases on crustacean and insect learning.

　Due to system simplicity and stereotyped behavior, the invertebrate learning should bedealt more precisely with clear definition of the learning than in higher animals where the definition largely depends on the procedures and the learnt results.

　In invertebrates, the non-associative learning such as habituation has been studied extensively.
