Influence of Maternal Fuel-gas Poisoning upon Fetal Brain

I．まえがき

　妊婦のガス中毒に関する研究は少ない。特に妊婦の中毒は一過性におわつたが，胎児に強い侵襲を与えたと思われる症例についての報告は，ごく僅かである。これらは，燈火用，燃料用ガスによる事故で，自殺の目的で使用された例もある。この場合CO以外のガス成分の影響をもまつたく除外は出来ないであろうが，これについては論じない。

　次に，母親がプロパンガス湯沸器の不完全燃焼によると思われる中毒の既往をもつ乳児の剖検例を報告する。

This is an autopsy report of three mounths old female infant whose mather lost consciousness for three hours due to accidental CO-poisoning six days before delivary. The brain is small weighing 330 grams. There are many cavities and slits in the basal ganglia and thalamus. The cerebral white matter show heavy gliosis. The cerebral cortex, on the other hand, is rela-tively well preserved except for small lesions in the insula and other fer gyri. The pons, medulla and spinal cord are not affected. Problem of CO-gas to enter and leave fetal tissue through placenta is discussed.
