  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The term "coma vigil" designates in French language only a grade of intensity of "clouding of consciousness": a state in which the patient can be awaked easily with a sensory stimulation and he has paradoxical combinations of symptoms, for example, sleep and wakefulness, psychic depression and agitation, asthenia and delirium, and so on. Hirayama (1971)20) described this state in French meaning in his "Textbook of Neurological Semiology".
