 A prolonged case of female childhood Minamata disease occurred acutely at the age of five. The patient survived till the age of 23 with apallic syndrome.

 Characteristic histopathological findings in Minamata disease were still demonstrated. In cerebrum, there were slight macroscopic spongy state in a part of the calcarine cortex, microscopic spongy state in some parts of the calcarine and postcentral cortices and also in the visual areas in anterior lobuli, the loosening in 2nd layer and thinning-out decrease of nerve cells were noticed in the whole other cortices.
