Damage during the fetus

Ⅰ．はしがき

　胎内感染による胎児への影響は，正確にはいまだ不明の部分が多い。多くのこれまでの研究は，retrospectiveなものであり，このことはもちろんデーターの積み重ねとして大変重要なものであるが，これと表裏一体をなすprospectiveの研研は少ない。これは，実際的に多くの困難を伴うものであり，また，追跡調査の段階で脱落するものも多いが，この方面からの広汎な研究は必要である。

　発育しつつある胎児が，感染により障害を受けることは想像に難くない。ただ胎児は，胎盤という関門により感染より守られており，胎盤感染はあっても胎児への侵襲が認められない場合もあるわけで，このことが妊婦は妊娠中に感染を経験しても，実際的には胎児への影響が多くはないということになるであろう。しかし，この場合も，詳細に検索すればなんらかの障害があるのかも知れない。

It is well known the rubella virus infection during pregnancy, particularly in the first trime-ster, produces malformations in the fetus, but fetal damage by intrauterine infections except rubella is few recognized.

In this paper, the pathogenesis of malformations and brain damage by intrauterine infections were described.

It is important in some viral infections, such as rubella, that prevention of intrauterine infections is now practicable.
