血管内治療は，近年，脳神経領域での解剖学，生理学，病理学，などのソフトの面と診断機器，治療用材料，装置，などのハードの面の両面の進歩により，その治療領域の適応は急速に拡大してきている。

その中でも代表的なものは，脳動脈瘤の治療でのGDCを用いた塞栓術と脳血管の狭窄性病変に対するステント治療であろう。これらをはじめ他の諸疾患についても近年それぞれ目覚しい発展が見られている。

Endovascular treatment for central nervous system disease has showed a remarkable development in recent years. The development accompanies a progress in diagnostic machines, therapeutic devices, materials for endo-vascular treatment.

In cerebral aneurysm, the Guglielmi detachable coil embolization is a promising adjunctive therapy in those pa-tients for whom surgical procedure is unlikely to be successful or seems hard to perform.
