Relationship between research of neuronal processes through mathematical models and physiological experi-ments is reviewed. The models introduced are associative memories with several modellings of neurons and synapses. The neurons include McCulloch-Pitts, sigmoidal function, and two-stage-dynamics models, and synapses with Hebbian, correlation-type, covariance-type, orthogonal-projection-type, and perceptron-type rules. Those rules are compared with each other with respect to their abilities, e.g. memory capacity and basins of attractions.
