人の脳のように長期目標を自ら設定し，成長していく脳型コンピュータの研究は，脳とは何のためにあるのか，脳の目的は何なのか，脳の目的を達成するために脳はどんな手法を用いているのか，などにまで踏み込んだ研究である。脳型コンピュータ研究は，神経細胞に基づく処理要素（神経情報処理）と，その処理要素をくみ上げる情報処理アーキテクチャ（脳型アーキテクチャ）から構成される。アーキテクチャに関しては，仮説に基づきシステムを組み上げ，その動作現象を解析することでその原型を探っている。実際にシステムの動作を解析すると，そこからは「人とは何か」，「人の集まる社会システムのあり方はどうあるべきか」といった疑問につながる知見が得られる。それを解き明かすことが脳型コンピュータの実現につながり，「脳のこころ」を理解することにつながると考える。本稿では情動を中心に，脳型コンピュータの観点から「脳のこころ」について述べる。

Research on a brain computer, which sets long-term goals similar to a brain and grows up by itself, examines the purpose of a brain and its existence and the method to achieve this purpose. This brain computer consists of information processing architectures which organize the neuronal processing elements. We have developed hypothetical architecture using neuroscientific evidences, and then analyzed the system to elucidate a prototypical brain-like architecture. The result of the analysis gives us foresight to understand humans, society and“the mind of a brain”. In addition we discuss“the mind of a brain”from the viewpoint of the study of a brain computer and emotion.
