This article reviewed the current status of the so-called noninvasive studies of higher brain functions in human. The modern techniques currently available for investigating functional localization or specialization of brain are divided into (1) electrophysiological studies including a) source analysis of scalp-recorded electrical potentials (EEG) related to various events or tasks, b) magnetoencephalogra-phy (MEG) and c) transcranial magnetic stimulation,
