  • Look Inside

Urinary diversion for obstructive uropathy with pelvic malignancies had been associated with high rates of mortality and complications, especially with open surgical nephrostomies. An evaluation of percutaneous nephrostomy for obstructive uropathy in 32 patients were made. Prognosis for those patients included 4 cases of survival for 5 to 13 months (mean 10 months) and 28 death 0 to 17 months (mean 4.2 months). The perioperative motality rate was decreased to 16 per cent (5/32). While the remaining cases of death were due to progression of primary tumors.
