アデノイド増殖による呼吸困難を呈した生後7か月児例

A Case of Acute Respiratory Disturbance due to the Enlarged Adenoids

　はじめに

　アデノイド増殖症や口蓋扁桃肥大症は，小児の睡眠時呼吸障害の原因として最も多く，その障害が高度になれば突然死の原因にもなり得るといわれている^1）。われわれは，生後7か月で高度な呼吸障害を起こし，アデノイド切除術を施行した軟骨無形成症（achondroplasia）の症例を経験したので報告する。

A 7-month-old infant with achondroplasia sud-denly developed severe dyspnea and cyanosis, and he was admitted to hospital after emergent intuba-tion. Several examinations including nasopharyn-geal fiberscopy suggested that obstruction of the nasopharyngeal space due to enlarged adenoids produced acute dyspnea. Adenoidectomy was per-formed immediately and the respiratory condition was remarkably improved postoperatively.
