  • Look Inside

Twenty cases of nasal bone fractures were evaluated by conventional lateral view and HRCT in axial scan. The nasal bone was divided into three portions of upper, middle and lower. The findings of fractures were classified into three categories:1)disruption of the nasal dorsum, 2) fracture line parallel to the dorsum and 3) fracture line close to the nasomaxillary suture. The findings were record-ed as fracture present, fracture absent and inconclu-sive.

The findings of lateral view matched those of HRCT as follows; 36% at the upper portion. 80% at the middle portion, and 90% at the lower portion. Both false positive and false negative results were mostly seen at the upper portion.
