扁桃結石の1症例

Tonsillolith:Report of a Case

　はじめに

　日常の耳鼻咽喉科診療では扁桃結石症例を経験することはほとんどないと思われる。本邦の文献では20例前後の報告例をみるにすぎない。扁桃周囲炎を合併して受診した扁桃結石症例に遭遇したので若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

A 59-year-old male patient, who complained of sore throat, was suspected of suffering from peritonsillar bascess, but later a needle aspiration revealed a tonsillolith, measuring 30×15×11mm and weighing 4.2 grams, which was removed. It was uneven on the surface, but had no nucleus inside. It was of a crescent shape, and seemed grown between the anterior platine arch and tonsil.

Chemical analysis showed 62% calcium phos-phate, 19% carbonate calculus and 19% protein. X-ray microanalysis showed a similar high com-ponent of phosphorus and calcium. Ultrastructural examination was also performed.
