A total of 43 patients were hospitalized for chronic vertigo and underwent vestibular rehabilitation treatment, without the use of anti-vertigo drugs, for six months. Their Dizziness Handicap Inventories(DHI)improved after one month(P<0.01)and continued improving for six months(P<0.01). Therefore, vertigo symptoms appeared to improve with vestibular rehabilitation. Patients believed that being hospitalized in groups allowed them to empathize and feel safe with each other, which improved their mental symptoms. The test item that could predict DHI improvement after six months was the locus length of the eye-opening unit at the time of the first posturography analysis;if the value was ≤1.482 cm, the improvement of DHI was confirmed after six months.
