  • Look Inside

A 43-year-old man was suffering from vertigo, disequilibrium, tinnitus, a hearing loss, and had a vesicle formed on his right lower jaw caused by Herpes Zoster virus. During a two-week period he had two vertigenous attacks. After the secondattack, repeated caloric tests using ice water were made but failed to elicit any nystagmus in his right ear. His hearing loss, tinnitus recovered within five months from his first attack. The virus might infiltrate from the trigeminal ganglion to the skin, then to the vestibular nerve via the auricular branch of the vagus nerve and the facial nerve in this case.
