Ⅰ．はじめに

　医療技術の進歩に伴い高齢者に対しても手術療法が選択されるようになり術前には予期せぬ術後合併症の発生をみることがある。そのなかでも肺血栓塞栓症は重篤な結果をもたらす術後合併症として近年注目されつつある。しかし，耳鼻咽喉科・頭頸部外科領域での関心は必ずしも高いとはいえない。われわれは耳下腺腫瘍の摘出術施行後の翌日に急性肺血栓塞栓症を発症し，救命しえた症例を経験したので若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

　A 69-year-old female presented with a swelling of infra-auricular area. Under general anesthesia the tumor was resected but the day after operation, the patient complained of dyspnea. Computed tomography revealed a blood clot in the right pulmonary artery and pulmonary thromboembolism was diagnosed. Anticoagulant therapy was initiated and the patient was survived.
