A 74-year-old male who had heart failure and cerebral infarction, was referred to the department of otorhinolaryngology, concerning onset of stridor and dyspnea. Flexible laryngoscopy revealed bilateral vocal folds motion impairment(VFMI)and edematous left arytenoid compressed by nasogastric tube. MRI did not show any new cerebrovascular lesion, and no evidence, causing VFMI,such as head and neck tumor lesion, was detected. Since nasogastric tube syndrome was highly suspected, the nasogastric tube was removed, and administration of antibiotics and steroids was started. Two days after starting the treatment, laryngoscopy revealed recovering of vocal fold motion.
