We performed bilateral cataract surgery with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in 16 patients. One eye was planned to have good naked vision for near and the fellow eye to have good vision for distance. Fourteen patients (88%) did not need eyeglasses after surgery. These cases showed better binocular function than the other 2 patients. One patient, who had cyclovertical deviation, was dissatisfied with the outcome of monovision method. The findings show that monovision induced by IOL is effective in presbyopia except in cases with poor binocular function.
