  • Look Inside

A 65-year-old female presented with massive vitreous opacity in the right eye and infiltrative lesions in outer retinal layers in the left. These lesions subsided by systemic and topical corticoster-oid. Massive vitreous opacity recurred in the right eye and optic atrophy developed in the left 15 months later. At 5 months of her initial visit, presumed malignant lymphoma was detected by computed tomography in the left parietal lobe, which was irradiated with 80 Gy over a 7-week period.

Round yellowish-white infiltrative spots, located in outer retina in the left eye, altered its distribu-tion and disappeared 4 months later. Small multifocal infiltrative spots recurred 22 months after initial visit. By fluorescein angiography, fresh spots showed no abnormality. Old scar lesions showed blockage of background fluorescence.

Vitrectomy was performed for massive vitreous opacity of the right eye. Cytologic study of vitreous specimen showed large-cell type malignant lymphoma.

We emphasize that yellowish-white infiltrative spots in the outer retina may be suggestive of intraocular malignant lymphoma.
