A 9-year-old girl presented with acute bilateral visual loss. She had been diagnosed as severe aplatic anemia 2 months before. we observed, bilaterally, extensive superficial retinal hemor-rhage with retinal swelling, probably due to hemor-rhagic retinoschisis. Massive vitreous hemorrhage developed a few days later. After her systemic condition improved 4 months later, we performed pars plana vitrectomy for both eyes. Visual acuity improved in one eye. The other eye was lost due to retinal detachment. We advocate early vitreous surgery for massive vitreous hemorrhage even in the presence of severe aplastic anemia.
