  • Look Inside

We treated 7 eyes of macular pucker with closed vitrectomy.Macular pucker was idiopathic in 3 eyes, secondary to retinal detachment surgery in 2 eyes and consequent to Terson's syndrome in 2 eyes. During the process of membrane peeling, retinal hemorrhage developed in 3 eyes and retinal hole in one. These complications did not affect thefinal vision. Nuclear cataract developed in one eye, necessitating later cataractsurgery.

Out of the 7 eyes in the series, the visual acuity improved in 5, remained unchanged in 1 and dete-riorated in 1. Improvement in visual acuity was rapid during the initial 3 months after surgery.Thevisual acuity became stationary from the fourth month on. The postoperative visual acuity was more dependent on the cystoid macular edema rather than the thickness of epiretinal membrane.
