  • Look Inside

We observed hemangioma of the orbit in a male and female aged 35 and 65 years respectively. The first case was characterized by rapid progression of proptosis, apparently due to hemorrhage within the tumor mass. The hemangioma could be totally removed by surgery. Histopathologically, the lesion was cavernous hemangioma in both cases. The first case showed intact visual acuity and visual field, due presumably to the location of the tumor temporal to the orbital tissue. The second case showed small tumor size but showed visual field impairment due to its location nasal to the orbital tissue. These features seemed to show that visual functions are more severely affected by the location of the tumor rather than its actual size.
