We evaluated the accuracy of SRK/T formula for 3 types of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in 434 eyes. Acrylic IOL was inserted in 246 eyes, 3-piece PMMA IOL (Menicon) in 87 eyes, and 3-piece PMMA IOL (ORC) in 101 eyes. The difference between predictive and actual postoperative refraction was defined as error. The error was within ±1 diopter in about 80% of each of the 3 groups. In eyes receiving acrylic IOLs, the error was within ±1 diopter in 84% of eyes when the axial length was between 22 and 24.5 mm. It was within ±1 diopter in all the eyes when the ax-ial length was between 24.5 and 27 mm. The error became greater in eyes with shorter axial lenth, eyes receiving IOLs of higher refraction, and eyes with smaller corneal diameter and axial length of less than 22 mm. These findings show that the SRK/T formula is useful for either of 3 types of IOLs in the present series. The formula is less exact for eyes with shorter axial length, smaller cornea, or eyes receiving IOLs of higher refraction.
