Corneal epithelial damages following latanoprost instillation

　ラタノプロストを追加あるいは変更投与したために角膜上皮障害をきたしたと考えられた緑内障患者5例8眼を報告した。そのうち4例7眼はβ遮断薬を併用していた。4例はラタノプロストあるいはラタノプロストを含む全点眼を中止し，人工涙液頻回点眼を基本とした治療によってすみやかに改善し，1例は抗生物質の眼軟膏点入によって改善した。ラタノプロストによって角膜上皮障害が生じる可能性があり，特にβ遮断薬との併用には注意を要すると考えられた。

We observed corneal epithelial damages in 8 eyes of 5 patients following instillation of latanoprost ophthalmic solution. Seven eyes of 4 patients had been concomitantly receiving topical beta-blocker. In 4 of 5 patients, the corneal damages improved after discontinuation of latanoprost and beta-blocker eyedrops combined by washing out the ocular surface with preservative-free artificial tear fluid. The other one patient needed additional instillation of antibiotic ointment. These cases illustrate that corneal damages may be induced by latanoprost eyedrops, particularly when combined with topical beta-blockers.
