外眼筋のT2緩和時間による甲状腺視神経症の評価

Evaluation of dysthyroid optic neuropathy using T2-relaxation time of extraocular muscle as parameter

　甲状腺眼症の活動性は，磁気共鳴画像（MRI）のT₂値で評価できる。これを甲状腺視神経症15例15眼の評価に応用した。外眼筋肥大のない甲状腺眼症20例40眼を対照群とした。視神経症群では，ステロイド薬による治療後にT₂値は有意に低下したが，対象群よりは高値であった。MRIのT₂値が甲状腺視神経症の治療効果の判定に有用であることが結論される。

The T₂ value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is useful in evaluating the activity of dysthyroid ophthlamopathy. We applied this method in evaluating dysthyroid optic neuropathy in 15 affected eyes of 15 patients. Another group of 40 eyes of 20 patients of dysthyroid ophthalmopathy without hypertrophy of extraocular muscles served as control. The T₂ value in dysthyroid optic neuropathy significantly decreased following treatment with corticosteroid but the value was still higher than that in control eyes. The findings show that the T₂ value of MRI is useful in evaluating the therapeutic effect of dysthyroid optic neuropathy.
