  • Look Inside

We reviewed 115 eyes in 94 patiens who presented with hypopyon uveitis during 8 years through 1998. The underlying disease comprised Behcet disease 55 cases (59%) followed by HLA-B27 associated uveitis 15 cases (16%). During the same period, hypopyon was present in 55 out of 236 cases (23.3%) of Behget disease, in 15 out of 30 cases (50%) of HLA-B27 associated uveitis, and in 3 out of 8 cases (38%) of fungus endophthalmitis. Accompanying ocular lesions in 115 eyes of hypopyon uveitis included posterior synechia 59% and fibrinous exudation in the anterior chamber 30%. All the cases were treated by topical corticosteroid and mydriatics. The final visual outcome was favorable except in cases with fundus lesions as in Behget disease or fungus endophthalmitis.
