We evaluated 411 eyes regarding the interval between maximum visual acuity and simultaneous triple surgery with vitrectomy, phacoemulsification-aspiration and intraocular lens implantation. The interval averaged 8.3 months in the whole group. It was 8.2 months in epiretinal membrane 85 eyes, 7. 3 months in lamellar macular hole 30 eyes, 6.0 months in diabetic macular edema 47 eyes, 7.3 months in nondiabetic macular edema 36 eyes, 10.1 months in macular hole 126 eyes, 8.4 months in proliferative diabetic retinopathy 54 eyes, 5.8 months in subretinal lesions 17 eyes and 7.5 months in vitreous hemorrhage 16 eyes. It was not correlated with age. Significant differences were present between macular hole and diabetic macular edema (p = 0.0026), and between diabetic macular edema and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (p = 0.05). The value of maximum visual acuity was significantly correlated with the duration after surgery and age.
