We measured the refractive power of the central cornea in 69 myopic eyes. We used an ophthalmometer of type Littmann and a videokeratoscope (Computed Anatomy Topographic Modelling System-1 : TMS-1) in the measure-ment. We compared the geometrical average of two principal meridians by the ophthalmometer with the mean value of the 7th ring of TMS-1. The findings were also analyzed on three different groups divided according to the corneal astigmatism. The measured values by the two modalities gave statistically significant correlations in the 69 eyes as a whole and in each of the 3 groups.
