  • Look Inside

We reviewed 60 eyes in 55 patients which underwent cataract surgery by phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. All the eyes had also chronic primary angle closure glaucoma. The ages averaged 67.4 ± 4.9 years. The postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was influenced by preoperative TOP and anterior chamber depth. Success rate in TOP control was correlated with preoperative TOP, anterior chamber depth and PAS index. Postoperative IOP control below 20 mmHg without systemic medication was achieved in 26 out of 27 eyes which showed 75% or less in PAS index or 2.00 mm in anterior chamber depth before surgery. Cataract surgery by phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation is indicated to eyes with chronic primary angle closure glaucoma only when above features are satisfied.
