  • Look Inside

We reviewed the results of vitreous surgery on 62 diabetic eyes with vitreous hemorrhage and without retinal detachment. Follow-up period ranged 12 months or more. Visual acuity improved in 38 eyes, 62%. Final visual acuity was 0.1 or better in 37 eyes, 60%. Major complications included vitreous hemorrhage 40%, rubeosis iridis 18% and retinal detachment 15%. Statistical evaluation by quantitation study type Ⅱ and χ2 test showed the final visual acuity to be dependent on optic neuropathy, nephropathy and therapeutic regimens for diabetes.
