網膜症軽微で白内障の重症な糖尿病

Clinical features of diabetic patients with advanced cataract and mild retinopathy

　糖尿病患者で視力低下の原因が，明らかに網膜症でなく白内障による患者14名の臨床像について調査した。網膜症軽微で白内障重症の糖尿病患者の特徴は，①若年糖尿病の傾向がある，②糖尿病の存在は，白内障進行に強く影響している，③糖尿病は，加齢による白内障の進行を，加速する可能性がある，④血糖コントロールと白内障進行は，相関しない，などであった。糖尿病による，白内障の発症・進行・程度を左右する因子が存在すると考えられた。

We evaluated 14 diabetic patients who manifested advanced cataract and mild retinopa-thy. These patients were characterized by the fol-lowing features. They were relatively young in age.Diabetes mellitus seemed to affect the progression of cataract and to accelerate the process of age-related cataract. Control of blood sugar level did not influence the appearance and progression of cataract.
