Abstract Purpose:To report a case of lower canalicular laceration intubated through the upper lacrimal punctum using a pigtail probe.

Case:A 71-year-old male was referred to us for injury round the left eye including laceration of lacrimal canalicle that occurred 3 days before.

Findings and Clinical Course:Reconstruction of the injured eyelid and lacrimal canalicle was attempted the following day. The canalicle leading to the lacrimal sac was identified by inserting a pigtail probe from the upper lacrimal punctum. A silicone tube was connected to the tip of the pigtail probe. With the use of lacrimal endoscope, a continuous passage was created from the upper lacrimal punctum to the nasal cavity. Lacrimal passage was patent after surgery.

Conclusion:In the repair of laceration of lower lacrimal canalicle, connecting a silicone tube to the inserted pigtail probe proved safe and effective in the present case.
